Out Door Country Club Reveals $2.35 Million
"Bistro on the Green" Restaurant and Golf Practice Range

The ODCC of York revealed $2.35 million renovation to focus on the needs of “today’s family.”

YORK, PA – The Out Door Country Club (ODCC) of York held a ribbon cutting today to reveal a $2.35 million new restaurant, Bistro on the Green, and golf practice range. The leadership of ODCC cut the ribbon on the new patio of the new Bistro on the Green, which overlooks the club’s course.

“Today’s $2.35 million investment is a response to both an industry trend and local community demand for a Country Club that meets the needs of today’s busy families,” said Michael P. Zambito, president of ODCC. “Today’s families want a casual dining option like the Bistro on the Green. The commitment of our membership and staff to answer this demand is evident by the 87 percent member vote which gave us approval to move this project forward. What we see here today is the first step in the ODCC adapting to be the country club of the future.”

The new Bistro on the Green was designed by SAA Architects in York and includes a wood fire pizza oven, breathtaking course views, and a relaxed atmosphere. Chef Bill Evans will head the kitchen offering a mix of casual dining options that appeal to the whole family and golfers of all ages.
The new practice range was designed by A. H. Green Design/GG&T, Inc. of Forest Hill, Maryland and is professionally managed by the ODCC's Golf Pro, Jason Gebhart and Golf Course Superintendent, Ben Ulevich.

The practice range includes 43,570 square feet of driving range improvements. The forward tee is a warm season Bermuda grass that thrives in summer heat. The rear tee is bentgrass that is more suited for the cooler spring and fall seasons. The combination of these grasses allows for quality turf throughout the golf season. In addition, two new fairway bunkers have been installed, along with a new mat system with 20 stations installed behind the tees. This TurfHound system is a state of the art product that combines 2 of 2 a fairway/tee height with a “first-cut” of rough and to top off the area the short game portion is designed to allow more users at one time, a greater variety of shots, and more realistic feedback.

The four-year ODCC project was led by two committees consisting of members and ODCC staff. One committee focused on the golf course while the other focus on facilities. The second phase of this two-phase renovation project for the ODCC will include a golf practice and education center that will feature indoor driving bays and offer golfers the ability to practice year round.

“The staff and member led committees for this project are really the ones who deserve the credit for this forward-thinking renovation,” added Zambito. “We’re looking forward to beginning the second phase of this project and more excitement for the ODCC in the future.”
